Sometimes archaeology is more than staring at dusty artifacts all day...
...and Montana Smith is one of those "sometimes archaeologists."
For Montana Smith, or Monty, as his friends call him, the best tool for doing archaeology is a brain. Number two is an RPG. Number three is a gun. Microscopes and brushes are in the triple digits on that list.
Ever since a certain fedora-d, whip-cracking action hero/professor started fighting bad guys in the mid-twentieth century, there have been a plethora of characters seeking to claim the title of "the next archaeologist action hero for the twenty-first century." Montana Smith is one of them. We'll see how he does. Check out this set of characters and tell us what you think.

Montana Smith
The heroic archaeologist and namesake for his own adventure series. His line of work most often involves preventing bad guys from getting their hands on powerful or priceless artifacts, though he also enjoys uncovering things that are somehow protected by traps or dangerous conditions. Being a strong Christian, Monty's favorite finds are ones pertaining to his faith, like the Tower of Babel (he found dinosaur bones in it). When he's not waltzing across continents and blowing things up, Monty can often be found giving guest lectures at various universities and institutions.
Pouvelle
Montana Smith's chief rival is less fascinated with Biblical artifacts and would rather find something that would allow him to take over the world, although sometimes an artifact happens to fit both categories. Pouvelle is a Frenchman and his birth name is "Poubelle," which is French for "trash can" (his mother wanted a girl). As soon as he turned 18, he changed it to the more sinister-sounding Pouvelle, although a number of Montana Smith's friends still call him Poubelle.
John
John first met Montana Smith as a student back when Dr. Smith was a full-time professor. John managed to "accidentally" get pulled into one of Montana's earlier adventures, and proved a worthy sidekick. Now, John usually stays at home, acting as Monty's "intelligence" operative, with a roomfull of computers, a live-feed high-resolution satellite, as well as other secret stuff. He usually keeps in constant touch with Monty, informing him of enemy movements, any historical background the archaeologist forgot, and the best topping combinations at the local pizza parlor.
Benjamin Kee
Montana Smith's teenage secret agent nephew. Sometimes works with his uncle, but often has his own saving-the-world to do. That's all the government will let us tell you.
