Star Travel is kind of a cross between Star Wars and Star Trek. It's our pile of old and throwaway ideas. A team of explorers embarks on a mission to explore, survey, and chart the entire Milky Way Galaxy. However, there is an intergalactic Empire (with the Milky Way a part of it) that Earthlings were previously oblivious to. The Empire looks at Earthlings as inferior and rebels, and any Earthling that ventures beyond their own solar system should be destroyed. So, when the team of explorers (aboard the U.S.S. Expedition) comes into contact with the Empire, it's all-out war.
U.S.S. Expedition
A cross between Star Trek's U.S.S. Enterprise, Star Wars' Mellenium Falcon, and the same's Star Destroyer. The Expedition is the 'home base' for a team of explorers traveling, mapping, and exploring our local sector of the universe. It is equipped with the latest in weapons, shielding, propulsion, scanning, computer, and laboratory technology, but will it be enough to bring it through an encounter with the Empire? By the way, it moves the opposite direction the U.S.S. Enterprise would. In the picture, it moves from right to left.
DIJE Fighter
The Double Ion Jet Engine Fighter is the primary one-man ship in the Imperial Fleet. They are usually the first ships deployed in a battle. They have four laser cannons on the cockpit and two light missile launchers on the wings. They are battery powered, charging on their hanger racks and using extremely powerful batteries. However, their battery life is only a few minutes in battle and half an hour of straight cruising, and thus are strictly short-range vehicles.
Lavaspray Patrol Ship
A more powerful one-man gunship, this fighter can fly in any condition, and take down almost any ship less than twice its size. These are usually deployed as a second defense when DIJEs fail, or as security around vital Imperial locations. It has laser guns positioned in the back for unknown reasons, rotating missile-and-laser batteries on either side, and hidden high-power blasters under the cockpit. Luckily for the team on the Expedition, its great firepower comes at the cost of speed and maneuverability.
Trash Collector/Compactor
Loyal to neither side but funded by the Empire, these are nothing more than intergalactic garbage trucks. Each have four clamps on the bottom to manipulate garbage in zero-g, an airlock if extravehicular stuff is required, and two magnetic particle stabilizers to keep the miniature black hole at bay. The black holes will slowly grow larger as more junk is sucked into them, and when they get dangerously large, they are disposed of into the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy that everybody just stays away from. These vehicles are stored in large hangers spaced evenly throughout residential areas. These are easy for the crew of the Expedition to steal away and use in battle and also easy to customize with weapons and (most commonly) a mechanism that will launch the black hole at the enemy fleet. There's so many of them the Empire doesn't care or notice if a few are missing.
